Israel Beardsley was born on March 13, 1721 in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut. His father was Josiah Beardsley.

He married Elizabeth French. Elizabeth was the daughter of Samuel French-1687)

He lived at Dorset and Manchester, Vermont

Fairfield County, Connecticut originally consisted of the towns of Rye, Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Fairfield, and Stratford. Woodbury (1673) , Danbury (1687), Ridgefield (1709), Newtown (1711), and New Fairfield (1740) were added later. In 1751, part of Woodbury was included in Litchfield County.

Israel [Beardsley] (Josiah, Joseph, Willie), born at Stratford Connecticut, 13 March 1721; no records have been found of his death but his mother's will dated, 1774, names, "My loving grandchildren, Mary and Price Beardslee, son and daughter of my son Israel Beardslee, dec'd;

Married Elizabeth French, bapt. at Stratford, 31 July 1726, daughter of Samuel and Mary (Price) French; she married, second, — Bates as her name appears in Manchester, Vermont probate records, 1780 when Israel's mother's estate was settled.

He lived at Dorset and Manchester, VT.

iv. Mary, b. at Stratford, Conn. 1755; d. at Manchester, VT. 17 March 1839; m. Joseph French, 13 May 1777, b. at Stratford, 6 July 1748 d. at Manchester, 14 July 1813, m. of Samuel and Elizabeth (Loring) French. 10 ch

v. Abigail, d. at Dorset, 13 May 1777, Elijah French b. at Stratford, 12 Sept. 1751; d. at Dorset 18 Sept. 1830, s.of Samuel and Elizabeth (Loring) French, both Manchester, VT. 10 Ch.

vi. Hannah, bapt at Stratford, Conn. 10 Dec. 1758. vii. Price, b. 19 May 1761

viii. Jerasha, Probate records at Manchester VT. tell that a guardian was appointed for her, Nov. 4 1783, and that she was about 14 years of age.

The American Flag was adopted in 1777.
